Jinn the Movie: Synopsis and Review

Fortunate enough to have attended the elegant and awe-inspiring Jinn movie premiere at the Detroit Institute of Arts on April 1, I must say that I am totally sold on Jinn! As a grown man, I've vowed never to jump or get spooked during a suspenseful or scary movie, but I repeatedly found myself in precisely that situation throughout much of the film! As someone who grew up hearing scary tales about the Jinn both at home and while visiting relatives overseas, it was still always hard to conceptualize them physically. However, this film brings them to life in such a way that images of the Jinn will forever be etched in your mind and you'll never be able to shake them!

Shot completely in Michigan, director Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad's "JINN" takes you on a mystical and suspense-riddled journey through time and space. With a prophecy that destines Shan (played by Dominic Rains), an automotive designer, for a showdown with the Jinn- God's third and most mysterious sentient creations made from smokeless fire, the Jinn's unquenchable thirst for meddling in the lives of humans drives him through a hellish ordeal that is bound to keep viewers on the edge of their seats! The incessant stalking of the Jinn prompts Shan to seek help from unlikely sources despite having never heard of these bewildering and menacing creatures to begin with! Gabriel (played by Ray Park), Father Westhoff (played by William Atherton), Ali the mental ward resident (played by Faran Tahir) and wife Jasmine (played by Serinda Swan) are all drawn in to Shan's unpredictable dilemma and are forced to take action against the nefarious and villainous beasts!

Transporting an incredibly popular eastern myth to western audiences, the creators of Jinn bring a gripping, jarring, action-packed cryptic thriller while throwing a fresh new spin on the universally recognized paranormal! A dark and mystifying concept coupled with incredible special effects, stunning visuals, personable characters, solid acting and a tight story-line will make JINN a spring sensation!

Oh, and if you're a car enthusiast, a special, hot new ride designed by the director called the FIREBREATHER was created specifically for this movie! So do yourself a favor and get 'Jinnspired' at your local theaters this Friday, April 4th!
